BRICE - Mobile Success for Maintainers at the Point of Repair

Objective:

USAF Headquarters Air Force A4 needed to embrace and leverage digital technology at the Edge, where work is done. Maintainers needed to increase time on task and spend less time “hand-jamming,” or manually documenting. Implementing tools already familiar, like iPads, users would reduce both errors and on-the-job training.

Solution:

Monkton delivered Enterprise Mobile Application Services (EMAS), a set of enterprise mobile frameworks in which any system integrator can build native mobile apps. EMAS supports DoD mobile security (NIAP Compliance Baseline) and authentication requirements.

Monkton also delivered an iOS mobile app (BRICE), enabling maintainers to efficiently view and capture maintenance data at the point of use. BRICE deployed to over 100 AFRC A-10 flightline maintainers in Nov 2018 at DMAFB, AZ with overwhelming support for the app.

Challenges Solved:

  • Achieved a secure cloud infrastructure

  • Implemented an agile and Edge-based mentality

  • Reduced on-the-job training

Outcomes:

  • Time and cost savings

    • Average savings of 1-3 hours per day, per user

    • ROI of $8,500 per user, per year

  • Data integrity

    • 60% improvement in data documentation with decreased documentation time

  • Hardware

    • 98% of users satisfied with devices delivering the NSA NIAP compliant mobile app

The ability to move… the ability to have data track with the actual work that’s happening—our airmen want this badly and won’t accept anything less.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
